Public Works crew is clearing along ditch banks in preparation for improving drainage along 8th Street. This ditch has not been maintained for over 20 years.  This is a continuation of the City's commitment to clean and maintain all the major ditches within the City limits. This makes the 4th major ditch that has been cleaned and flowing properly in the past 6 months.  For more photos, click on this link: https://www.cityofpocomoke.com/event/gallery/ditch-clearing-pocomoke-city

Demolition of the Lusby building and the old Dance Loft started late morning on February 22, 2019.  The City has contracted with Harry White of Pocomoke Recycling Co, Inc. to do the demolition and clean up of the 2 buildings. Unfortunately, these buildings were beyond reasonable and economical repair due to the neglect of upkeep. The City has made a hard commitment to address abandoned, dilapidated, and public safety buildings. The City is also committed to a revitalization effort to replace demolished buildings with more modern, attractive buildings that will blend in with the current Downtown appearance. The City will be presenting a conceptional drawing and plan in the very near future.

Worcester County Commissioner Josh Nordstrom and City Manager Bobby Cowger met with Senator Carozza in Annapolis to discuss the much-needed assistance for Pocomoke City on infrastructure and revitalization of Downtown on Friday, February 15, 2019. Senator Carozza and Commissioner Nordstrom are very much in support of Pocomoke City and its needs.

Here is a picture of the City completing another drainage area problem along 6th St.  The City has made a commitment to address all drainage problems throughout the City over the next year. This is the 3rd area completed.  White Oaks and Cedar Run have already been completed.  Drainage in the City has not been addressed in over 30 years. Inspection and maintenance of the ditches will be scheduled on a yearly basis moving forward.  All other problem areas will be addressed in the coming months.

As Mayor of Pocomoke City I would like to bid you a warm welcome to The Friendliest Town on the Eastern Shore!

We are a family oriented city of just under 5000 people located on the coast of Maryland on the Delmarva Peninsula. Our city rests against one of our greatest attributes, the banks of the Pocomoke River which is one of the top scenic rivers in America. Our town was founded in the early 1700’s and was incorporated in 1878.

Pocomoke is proud of the fact that we are a sub-center for commerce on the lower shore as we are home to a growing industrial park with great diversity currently playing host to defense contractors, aerospace engineering and plastics fabrication. We are also strategically located...
