Winter Preparedness Information

Dear Community & Public Safety Partner:

As we transition to the fall and winter months, Delmarva Power is prepared for major weather events such as Nor’easters, significant snowfalls and icing conditions that can cause service interruptions. Since 2012, Delmarva Power has invested $330 million to upgrade its Maryland electric distribution system, producing a 51 percent drop in the number of outages and a 69 percent increase in the speed in which outages are restored.

Along with infrastructure improvements, we continue to exercise and improve our planned and strategic response to restore service when and if an event does occur by:

• Prioritizing the safety of our employees and the public above all else.

• Providing customers with updated information via our website and mobile applications.

• Coordinating additional resources, as needed, to restore service and respond to emergencies.

• Maintaining an adequate supply of essential equipment, such as poles, wires and transformers.

• Staying in contact with other utilities to quickly arrange for mutual assistance in case of a natural disaster.

• Working with local governments, public safety personnel and first responders through our Emergency Services Partnership Program to respond safely and decisively to emergencies.

• Participating in emergency preparedness drills on a regular basis.

Delmarva Power provides a “Storm Preparation Handbook” that can be downloaded from its website (www.delmarva.com) or you can call Customer Care at 800-375-7117 to request a copy via mail. Customers can report power outages through our website, our mobile app or by calling
