Pocomoke City EMS provides quality first responder emergency medical care and emergency transport to area hospitals if needed. Our municipal department employs twelve full-time personnel who are complemented by a part-time and volunteer staff of trained professionals. Our department provides Basic and Advanced Life Support services with three fully-equipped Advanced Life Support ambulances. The Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company is an all volunteer fire company that was formally founded in 1888 which provides primary fire, rescue, and fire prevention services to the citizens of Pocomoke City and the surrounding unincorporated areas of southern Worcester and southern Somerset counties. The company maintains a fleet of apparatus consisting of an engine, tower ladder, rescue engine, tanker, brush truck, rescue boat, high water rescue vehicle, and several utility and incident command vehicles. At full strength, the department retains a diverse roster of approximately 60 dedicated individuals of various backgrounds and professions. The PCVFC assists in the mitigation of approximately 350 fire, rescue, and public service incidents annually, responding out of our modern 7-bay fire station which opened in 2008.
